QSR Automations Expands Use of its Complete Kitchen Management Solutions to Additional Brinker International Concepts
On The Border and Corner Bakery Cafe

Enhanced Food Quality and Highly Organized Kitchens at Chili’s Compel Brinker’s Decision

LOUISVILLE, KY (August 2, 2005) - QSR Automations®, a leading provider of innovative automation technology for the hospitality industry worldwide, announced today that Brinker International® is implementing its ePic® Kitchen Management Solution – including the ePic Kitchen Display Software (KDS) and ePic video controller with QSR’s KP-3000™ keypad – within all company owned On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina and Corner Bakery Cafe restaurants. Operator of six concepts, including Chili's Grill & Bar, Brinker finished these most recent installations at the Corner Bakery locations this summer and will complete the rollout to the On the Border stores in the fall of this year.

With a successful partnership between Brinker and QSR that originated in 2001, the complete ePic solution is now in use at all corporate Chili’s restaurants, currently more than 700, as well as a number of Chili’s franchise locations. Realizing such benefits as improved food quality, faster ticket times, and enhanced guest satisfaction ratings, Brinker decided to expand its use of QSR’s advanced kitchen management technology to additional concepts.

Similar to the Chili’s configuration, On the Border relies on the ePic KDS to coordinate and streamline operations by routing items and orders to the appropriate kitchen stations using cook times so that all items within an order complete simultaneously. And with the fully definable ePic KDS, Brinker was able to customize the ticket flow and data layout for its On the Border restaurants, which use a standard six kitchen stations per store including a dedicated expeditor for to-go orders. Another benefit already proven at Chili’s, On the Border now has access to production information to evaluate cook station timing and food timing.

With Corner Bakery, which now provides full counter service and primarily draws the high traffic breakfast and lunch day parts, speed of service is crucial to ensure guest satisfaction. Brinker again configured the ePic KDS to support the specific store operation. With the ePic KDS, Corner Bakery successfully manages the inflow of orders and gets items out faster, effectively smoothing operations in the kitchen and at the expeditor. In addition to the timing data available in real-time at each of the kitchen stations, Corner Bakery managers also make use of speed of service reports that measure actual item and order times against targets.
